Shiatsu
is a traditional healing Art form from Japan that can
help you regain your innate physical, emotional and spiritual
balance. Like acupuncture, Shiatsu is based on the principle
that the life force is channeled through the body along
a series of pathways called ‘meridians.’ Unlike
acupuncture, which employs needles, Shiatsu is based on
the human touch.
Shiatsu
has often been called “acupuncture without needles.”
Skillful application of pressure with fingers, palms,
and thumbs along the energy pathways removes blockages.
I then direct the flow of vital energy throughout the
body to restore physical energy, mental alertness, and
emotional tranquility.

Shiatsu
also adds to the effectiveness of other treatments in
a significant way. A
Shiatsu session preceding a visit to the chiropractor
will allow for more fluid, easier manipulations. Shiatsu
treatment after a chiropractic session helps hold the
adjustments longer. Shiatsu enhances acupuncture, osteopathy,
and other complementary approaches. In conjunction with
a regimen of herbs, vitamins, minerals, or other supplements,
Shiatsu promotes the assimilation and circulation of the
nutrients. In addition, Shiatsu is a useful counterpart
to many forms of Western medicine, including pain management,
pre- and post-surgery, psychotherapy and physical therapy.
Shiatsu
effectively addresses many common complaints that affect
us all:
• Back pain & muscle stiffness
• Headaches & migraines
• Digestive complaints
•
Reduced mobility
• Depression
• Stress
• Sore muscles & sports injuries
• Repetitive motion injuries
• Fatigue & low energy
• Menstrual problems
• Sleep difficulty
• Joint pain
|
|
| Shiatsu
counteracts the harmful effects of stress and helps to
promote a higher level of well-being. After a Shiatsu
session, you will feel renewed, relaxed and reinvigorated.
Most people experience a significant decrease in symptoms
with one to three treatments. |

Shiatsu
treatments take between 45 and 55 minutes. You should
wear loose, comfortable clothing, which can be provided
for you. No oils or lotions are used. At your first session,
you will fill out a brief health and lifestyle profile
that will serve as a guide in setting realistic therapeutic
goals. I can then suggest an initial treatment strategy.
Many people notice a positive response to Shiatsu after
only one session. Designed to produce sustained,
long-term change, Shiatsu’s beneficial effects are
cumulative and become more pronounced with each treatment. |
